Health message for Tuesday, Apr 01: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.

Synopsis and Discussion
Gusty winds on Sunday contributed to high PM-10 levels at some Valley
locations; the West Forty Third monitoring site registered an hourly
PM-10 (coarse particle) concentration of 843.9ug/m3 at 4:00 p.m. No
significant rain has fallen in the metro area since early February and
trough passages this time of year tend to produce stronger winds than
usual along with areas of blowing dust. Another dry trough passage and
wind event is likely to occur on Wednesday and Thursday but this one
currently does not look as potent. April 1 is the official start of the
local ozone season and the full network of ozone monitors has been
re-activated. In addition, the EPA has revised the health standard for
8-hour ozone; for more information please go the link highlighted below.
