Synopsis and Discussion
AN EXTENSION OF TODAY'S PM10 HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED THROUGH SUNDAY
MARCH 16
Just in the last couple of hours, winds have picked up throughout much
of the forecast area due to rising mixing heights which have caused
strong winds in the mid levels to mix down to the surface. These
moderate to strong surface winds capable of transporting coarse
Particulate Matter will be the rule for much of the weekend. For this
reason, today's PM10 HEALTH WACTH has been extended through Sunday March
16th. While tightening pressure gradients are contributing to increased
surface winds today and Saturday, there is the potential for elevated
PM10 concentrations on Sunday due to outflow boundaries associated with
thunderstorms that may develop. Rainfall from this system is not
expected to be widespread, but may be heavy in localized areas. A
noticeable drop in temperatures will also be apparent with this system
as a cold front moves through the region on Sunday. Check back Sunday
for the latest updates. - Paris
