Health message for Tuesday, Mar 11: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.
Synopsis and Discussion
Residual cooling aloft from Sunday's weak trough passage, along with
temperatures this afternoon near 80 degrees F, have lifted today's best
mixing depth to over 10K'; dispersion will be GOOD to VERY GOOD. The
axis of a warm ridge aloft is forecast to move overhead on Tuesday and
move east by Tuesday night as a weak weather disturbance translates thru
the northwest flow aloft. Considerable high cloudiness is expected to
accompany the disturbance; warming aloft and relatively light winds will
contribute to less favorable dispersion and slightly higher particle
pollutant levels on Tuesday. On Wednesday tightening gradients aloft
will mean a modest increase in local afternoon surface winds, improved
dispersion, and decreasing pollutant levels. Looking ahead, a
significant precipitation event is possible by late in the weekend.
