Synopsis and Discussion
It was a little windy Wednesday afternoon with some pockets of blowing dust, but overall the Particulate levels climbed not higher than the low to mid "Moderate" range of the Air Quality Index (AQI). Thursday look beautiful across the Phoenix forecast area as overnight sustained winds continued to clear the accumulated pollution out of the Valley. The next three to four days will be relatively tranquil as high pressure keeps winds low under generally sunny skies. Afternoon desert temperatures will increase to the upper 70s Friday through Sunday, with some of the warmest spots touch the 80°F. No rain is expected the next seven days or so, so the forecast area will continue to dry out. Fine Particulates will remain in the upper "Good" range while Coarse Particulates will increase steadily each day towards the "Moderate" range once again. Ozone has been reaching the low 40s of the AQI, which is still in the "Good" range. However, with a higher sun angle and longer periods of daylight, precursor will be to bake a bit more readily, increasing local ozone concentrations. Check back tomorrow for a more detailed look at your weekend's weather and air quality. Have a good day! -J.Paul
