Synopsis and Discussion
AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT TODAY TUESDAY JUNE 17
It appears that afternoon westerly winds continue to transport
relatively ozone pollutant-free air over the local forecast area and
that monitoring sites in Arizona upwind of the Valley are experiencing
the same...at least so far. Winds in the 5-10K' layer will still be
capable of importing additional ozone and its precursors from California
thru at least Thursday morning so this situation will have to be
monitored closely. For the time being, no additional Health Watches
have been included in the forecast, but this situation could change day
to day depending on when and if said import occurs. Given the prevailing
wind direction, the northeast and east Valley areas would be the most
prone to having elevated ozone levels the next few days. -Reith
