Synopsis and Discussion
*AN OZONE HIGH POLLUTION ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 12
AND HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2008*
As anticipated, winds overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday morning and again on Wednesday afternoon, were enough to start the Valley ozone production lower and shut it down before it go going again, resulting in NO exceedances of the 8-hr health standard in the Phoenix forecast area on Wednesday! Unfortunately, as you can tell by the High Pollution Advisory that is in effect for Thursday, our brief experience out of the woods was a short one. With the area of high pressure strengthening over our region this the next several days, we are going to see a significant warm up. Afternoon desert temperatures will climb to around 110°F or higher at many locations under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be fairly light through early next week, so there really won't be much movement of the air and local pollution that is contributed. This means that Ozone levels are expected to remain high through Friday and possibly into the weekend. For now, we are EXTENDING the Ozone High Pollution Advisory through Friday. We will look at the weekend's outlook in more detail tomorrow, so check back then. Otherwise, have a good day! -J.Paul
