Synopsis and Discussion
General weather conditions will be conducive to efficient local ozone
formation the next few days - afternoon temperatures in the 100-105
degrees F range, high sun angle, long day length - and will become
increasingly so for above average for ozone accumulation as winds become
easterly thru a deep layer. The wild card of sorts is daytime cloud
cover which has been in abundance as of late. Since monsoon moisture
content is, and is expected to remain, very high the next few days will
base forecast concentrations on the notion of afternoon cloud formation
being a limiting factor. It remains to be seen if this trend will
persist; mostly sunny skies all day would yield much higher ozone levels
and perhaps necessitate the issuance of at least an Ozone Health Watch.
At this time will choose to defer this decision to successive forecasts.
Otherwise, local air quality is expected to be relatively good thru this
forecast period. -Reith
