Health message for Tuesday, July 15: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.

Synopsis and Discussion
The air mass over and adjacent to the local forecast area remains
extremely moist, and another round of widespread afternoon and evening
showers and thunderstorms seems a good bet. Under these conditions,
convective cloud debris tends to persist into the afternoon hours,
limiting ozone production and keeping levels well below their potential;
in addition, heavy rainfall is an efficient ozone scavenger. Since the
latest outlook is for significant drying to not begin until mid-week,
local air quality should remain relatively good thru Tuesday and no
Health Watches should be needed until Wednesday at the earliest. -Reith
