Synopsis and Discussion
*THE PM2.5 HEALTH WATCH FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 2008 HAS BEEN EXTENED 
THROUGH SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 2008*
It should be a nice weekend weather-wise with afternoon desert temperatures approaching 70°F.  With a large ridge of high pressure over the east coast, Arizona is on the eastern edge.  This means that disturbances diving south along the Rockies may influence the state at times.  Though no rain is expected in the next 7 days, winds could increase out of the north from time to time.  Fine Particulates were flirting with yet another exceedance at West Phoenix and a couple other sites on Thursday.  Levels are currently at or slightly lower today than they were 24 hours ago, but light winds will continue to let these particulates accumulate through at least Saturday.  A small disturbance may help mix the air up a bit on Sunday, but then it's back to mostly calm condition next week.  We are extending the PM2.5 Health Watch through Sunday.  Check the County's web site (http://maricopa.gov/aq) for the latest on residential wood burning restrictions. We'll let you know on Sunday whether or not the air quality conditions are expected to improve next week.  Have a great weekend!  -J.Paul
