Synopsis and Discussion
Not much change is expected weather-wise the next week or so as high pressure remains large and in charge. Any major systems will be deflected north of Arizona, keeping the region dry and mostly sunny. Afternoon desert temperatures will be above normal, around 70°F, Thursday through at least the middle of next week. With no rain in the forecast for the next 7-10 days, particulate levels will continue to trend upwards. Fine particulates (PM2.5) will be the main focus as it varies much greater than does coarse particulates (PM10). They will likely reach the mid "Moderate" range by Friday. Depending on how many residential fireplaces see action this weekend, PM2.5 could either hold steady with a slight decrease, or shoot higher on Saturday and Sunday. With the festive Holiday season now in our rearview mirror however, fireplace activity will likely be much less. We'll watch the trend the next couple of days. Stay tuned... Have a good day! -J.Paul
