Synopsis and Discussion

How about that rain! Most Valley location generally received between
0.25 and 0.75 inches over the weekend. Phoenix Sky Harbor officially
had 0.56 inches since Saturday. Not a bad start to 2008, huh? This
rain is really good for the soil, particularly keeping on the ground and
not in the air. Particulate levels were well in the "Good" range on
Monday (no surprise). The system has now moved east and high pressure
will begin to build over our region. Mostly sunny skies and relatively
light winds can be expected heading in to the weekend along with a
warming trend. Afternoon desert temperatures will rebound to the mid
60s much of this week. A disturbance will try to dive south into
Arizona on Saturday, but the ridge of high pressure will keep it just to
the east. With the drier weather and slightly decreased mixing, we
anticipate Fine Particulate concentrations to climb back into at least
the low "Moderate" category within the next day or two. Otherwise,
continued good weather and decent air quality can be expected into early
next week. Check back daily for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
