Health message for Thursday, Jan 03: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

Health message for Friday, Jan 04: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

Synopsis and Discussion
It appears that the local forecast area is in for a prolonged spell of
relatively good air quality. This will be due to an unsettled weather
pattern thanks to the slow but steady southward migration of the polar
front jet stream and mid-latitude storm track. A series of increasingly
cold and potentially wet Pacific weather disturbances are forecast to be
steered over the western U.S. including Arizona beginning on Friday and
lasting into early next week. Extensive cloud cover will mitigate
weaken overnight inversion formation; breezy winds and cooling aloft
will contribute to favorable dispersion. The absence of significant
stagnation and increasing prospects for rainfall should help keep
particle pollutant concentrations well below their potential for this
time of year. Strongest winds and best chances for rainfall are
currently advertised to occur on Sunday. -Reith
