Synopsis and Discussion
Another disturbance has slid into Arizona, bringing breezy conditions to
the region on Thursday. Waking up on Friday, clouds blanketed the
forecast area with some occasional showers. Snow is currently falling
in the White Mountains to the east of the Valley as well as the
mountains around Flagstaff. This winter season has been really good for
Arizona reservoirs with snowmelt continuing to fill them up while new
storms bring more snow to the higher elevations. It will be interesting
to see what impact all this moisture has on the coming Spring fire
season. Will storms continue, keeping fuel moisture low for a quiet
season, or will we have a very dry spring, increasing the risk of
wildfires across the state? Time will tell... For now, the once-a-week
storm systems have been enough to keep air quality in the "Good" to mid
"Moderate" range for the most part. Passing showers on Friday will keep
particulates down for a bit, but as high pressure returns Saturday
through next Wednesday, they will steadily climb towards the "Moderate"
range once again. Will there be another disturbance next week to knock
the dust back down? Check back on Sunday for that answer and more on
your coming workweek's weather and air quality. Have a great weekend!
