Synopsis and Discussion
On the 7th day of Christmas... clear skies finally returned (with
some scattered high-level clouds). A temporary ridge of high pressure
has now moved over the region. Afternoon desert temperatures will
rebound to the upper 60s Friday through early next week. A quick-moving
disturbance may push through Arizona on Tuesday bringing a slight chance
of showers. The computer model roller-coaster ride continues as the
latest 12Z (5am local time) model runs have now re-introduced the chance
for showers on Christmas Days as well. It's been back and forth the
past few days, so we'll keep an eye on the situation as it could mean
the difference been great air quality or an HPA due to fireplaces
activity on Christmas.
All pollutants were "Good" again on Thursday. Just one day removed
from the last rainfall, Fine Particulates are already closing in on the
"Moderate" range Friday morning and should rise further through the
weekend with continued festive fireplace use. Coarse Particulates
(PM-10) will take a little while longer to rebound as the ground is
still damp in many areas due to the recent valley-wide rain. Check back
on Sunday for a closer look at the short work-week's weather and
resultant air quality. Have a great weekend! -J.Paul
