Synopsis and Discussion
TODAY'S OZONE HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN EXTENDED THRU THURSDAY AUGUST 14
Once again most Valley locations had 8-hour average ozone levels in the
good to low-moderate range of the Air Quality Index, with only the far
eastern metro area in the mid-to-upper moderate range of the AQI. These
readings are consistent with a westerly afternoon surface wind regime
that is now expected to prevail thru Friday. Even though ozone levels
today may not reach their potential area-wide due to an increase in
cloud cover and an upswing in summer monsoon thunderstorm activity, it
seems prudent to extend the current Health Watch since peak
concentrations have been near or at unhealthy levels the past two days.
