Synopsis and Discussion
*AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2008*

More storms rumbled through the Valley again Tuesday night. This time
it was the east side that saw most of the action. Blowing dust,
frequent lightning, followed by some decent rain was what many
eastsiders experienced. The winners? It looks like north Tempe, near
Arizona State University as well as Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport had the
most rain at 0.63 inches. Chances will continue through Friday with the
increased moisture from Tuesday combined with a bit more instability.
We could have little break by the weekend, and then right back at it by
early next week.

As mentioned above, some blowing dust occurred ahead of the strong storm
cell last night. 24-hour PM-10 concentrations noticeably increased into
the mid "Moderate" category at Higley with a peak of 756.8 micrograms
per cubic meter at 9pm! This can be expected when storms move north
across the drier deserts to the south. Ozone levels dropped off
slightly from the day before, but are now ahead of where they were 24
hours earlier. An Ozone Health Watch remains in effect for Wednesday
with the highest concentrations expected in the northern and eastern
parts of the Valley. They should climb into the mid "Moderate" range
again on Thursday and Friday. For now, we will allow the Health Watch
to expire at the end of the day on Wednesday with no additional health
statements. Check back tomorrow for any changes. Have a good day!
