Synopsis and Discussion
*An Ozone Health Watch AND a PM10 Health remains in effect for
Wednesday, April 30, 2008*
Winds are increasing, visibility is dropping and Particulate levels are
shooting through the roof. As we have forecasted the last couple of
day, a trough of low pressure is currently scraping across the western
U.S. with the tail end dragging through Arizona. This is the cause of
the widespread dust across the deserts. It will continue through the
night on Wednesday and into the early hours of Thursday before
conditions begin to improve. The good news: the winds have caused ozone
to level off and in some cases begin to decrease. Particulates will
remain in the mid to upper "Moderate" range on Thursday, decreasing
further on Friday as calmer conditions prevail under high pressure.
Ozone will be in the low to mid "Moderate" range the next several days.
We'll have a better understanding of the impact of today's wind event
tomorrow. Until then, have a good day! -J.Paul
