Synopsis and Discussion
What a difference a day makes! No winds and voila! Particulates
dropped. Considerably! Interestingly enough, ozone also dropped off
despite starting high on Thursday. All it takes is more ozone being
dispersed than formed, and that's likely what happened Thursday. I wish
I could tell you that it's going to be a tranquil weekend here in the
Valley of the Sun, but I can't. Yet another moisture-lacking storm
system will push through the western U.S. on Saturday and Sunday,
increasing winds here in the Valley to 15-25 mph on Saturday afternoon.
With occasional stronger gusts, blowing dust is likely at times. This
means that Particulates will increase significantly on Saturday,
possibly holding on Sunday before dropping back to the lower part of the
"Moderate" range on Monday. Ozone will likely remain in the "Moderate"
category as some transport is possible with this system. Check back
Sunday for the latest outlook on the coming week's weather and air
quality. Have a great weekend! -J.Paul
