Synopsis and Discussion
Another disturbance is forecast to move through the region Wednesday
into early Thursday morning. This has a bit more moisture than the
last, so a few showers are possible, mainly in the high country of
Arizona. Winds will again be the main factor, however. Therefore, we
expect particulates to increase on Wednesday into the mid "Moderate"
range. Ozone season is now upon us and there are more monitors online
to effectively pick up the regional transport of ozone and its
precursors. This is the part of the season where we see frontal systems
move through the forecast area more frequently as well. Therefore, it's
possible that ozone levels will increase on Thursday as the frontal
system scrapes across the southwest deserts, drawing preexisting ozone
and precursors from southern California towards our area. This type of
event known as "transport" will be mentioned several times over the next
couple of months, until high pressure sets up over the Four Corners area
and the weather pattern changes. We're not expecting any major health
concerns with this next system, but it will be a good indicator that
Ozone season is really under way here in Arizona. Check back tomorrow
for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
