Synopsis and Discussion
There are a few clouds Thursday morning across the Valley of the Sun and even some showers to the north near Prescott. This is all ahead of a trough of low pressure that is slowly moving east into the region. What we can expect weather-wise here in the Phoenix forecast area is a slight chance for showers later Thursday afternoon with clearing early Friday. By Friday afternoon the trough will be over Arizona. Winds are expected to be fairly strong out of the southwest and west, around 20 to 30 mph at times, with some pockets of blowing dust and reduced visibility. As a result, particulates will also increase well into the "Moderate" range on Friday, decreasing only slightly on Saturday. The entire system will push to the east of the region by Sunday and high pressure will begin to increase once again from the south. Afternoon desert temperatures will struggle to reach 90°F on Saturday and Sunday as cooler air filters in behind the system. Ozone will hold in the "Good" range through the weekend. Catch tomorrow's forecast for a look at your weekend's forecasted weather and air quality in more detail. Have a good day! -J.Paul
