Synopsis and Discussion
*A PM10 HEALTH WATCH HAS REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14,
2007*
Low pressure will move northeast through the southeastern portion of
Arizona late Thursday into Friday. It will not be strong enough to
produce gusty winds here in the Phoenix forecast area, but winds will be
around 10 to 20 mph from the east on Thursday. That's enough to mix up
the lower atmosphere a bit and hopefully clear some of this accumulated
dust and dirt out of the area. Temperatures will also remain in the low
to mid 80s through much of next week as a result. Models have suggested
that there is a slight chance for a stray shower on Friday, but we all
know that "slight" usually means "forget about it" here in the Valley of
the Sun. High pressure returns late Friday through the weekend. This
means that if the winds this time don't do their job in dispersing some
of the pollution, then we could have a pretty dirty weekend in store.
It does appear that we will see a system work its way through our region
at least once a week now. So even if we don't see any rain from these
disturbances, at least they will provide decent mixing. We'll keep
forecasted particulate levels in the mid to upper "Moderate" range for
the time being. Check back tomorrow for any changes. Have a good day!
