Synopsis and Discussion
*A PM10 HEALTH WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR TODAY, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9,
2007*
For those who have grown tired of the 90+ degree heat here in the Valley
of the Sun... change is on the way! A weak trough of low pressure will
move into Arizona on Sunday but will weaken rapidly and slide south into
Mexico. This will only act to drop afternoon desert temperatures into
the low 80s Saturday and Sunday. A second system, however, is expected
to move through central California and southern Nevada Sunday, arriving
in Arizona on Monday. This one is a bit stronger and will hold together
as it passes through the State. Afternoon temperatures will drop
further, into the mid to upper 70s on Monday before rebounding with high
pressure on Tuesday. There is an outside chance of a shower or two in
the Phoenix forecast area late Sunday into Monday, but don't hold your
breath. Think of any such rain as an added bonus to the cooler weather.
Winds are not expected to be too strong, but they will be strong enough
to help mix out some of this accumulated pollution Sunday and Monday.
Thus, we expect PM10 levels to steadily decline this weekend. Check
back on Sunday for the latest on all of this and a look at your coming
work-week. Have a great weekend and Veteran's Day! -J.Paul
