Synopsis and Discussion
All’s quiet on the home front air quality-wise. Ozone levels did creep into the mid “Moderate” range Saturday at a couple locations, but maximum concentrations are expected to take a dip the next few days as high pressure breaks down. A large trough of low pressure will bully its way into the western U.S. with the center well to the north of Arizona. However, it will sag far enough south to affect the flow across the state. Say goodbye to the moisture that produced those thunderstorm buildups in eastern Arizona. More importantly, say goodbye those triple digit temperatures
at least until next Friday. Phoenix will be in the mid to upper 90s much of next week with a westerly and southwesterly flow. Still no rain is expected for the next 10 day in Phoenix, which would put us at 36 consecutive days and counting without measurable rain (Sunday marks 29). Particulates were in the “Good” range Saturday, but we will likely see them increase to the low “Moderate” range this week, especially if Monday’s forecasted afternoon winds of 15-25 mph hold true. Check back tomorrow for any new weather or air quality information. Have a good day! –J.Paul
