Synopsis and Discussion

Clear nights and sunny hot days - typical for local June weather - are
forecast to continue the remainder of the work week while an upper level
ridge amplifies just to the east of Arizona. Dispersion provided by
afternoon westerly (upslope) winds should offset high ground-level ozone
production enough to keep highest concentrations confined to the far
eastern portion of the local forecast area. Meanwhile, morning
stagnation episodes - due to inversion formation in the dry air mass -
will contribute to spikes in PM-10 (coarse particle) levels after
sunrise that will rapidly decrease by noon. Highest air pollution
levels should be no higher than the mid-moderate range of the Air
Quality Index thru Thursday. -Reith
