Synopsis and Discussion
A rather persistent weather pattern is expected the next few days as the
mean trough position remains located over the northeast Pacific. The
southern end of this feature will bring very dry and relatively light
westerly flow aloft over Arizona and keep deep summer monsoon moisture
suppressed to the east and southeast of the state. It will also tend to
augment valley afternoon breezes that are instrumental in keeping local
ozone dispersion above average and hence its levels below their
potential. For now a near-persistence type forecast seems appropriate
since no significant swings in air pollutant concentrations are
indicated.
