24BUSynopsis and Discussion

*A PM-10 HPA remains in effect for Wednesday, June, 6, 2007*

The winds have begun to pick up across the Valley Wednesday morning after a slight break overnight. Particulate levels significantly increased Tuesday as this trough edged closer to the forecast area with West 43rd at 100 AQI, validating the Health Watch issued for Tuesday. More blowing dust is expected throughout the day Wednesday in the deserts of Arizona as the associated cold front pushes through. Afternoon desert temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s Wednesday and Thursday. As the trough weakens, winds will decrease and temperatures will rebound to around 100°F by Friday. Ozone levels were in the "Good" range Tuesday and should remain there through Thursday. With lighter winds and warmer temperatures this weekend, we could see ozone level climb into the lower "Moderate" category by then. The PM-10 High Pollution Advisory will remain in effect for Wednesday, but will be allowed to expire at midnight as conditions will improve. Check back tomorrow for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
