24BUSynopsis and Discussion

*A PM-10 Health Watch remains in effect for Tuesday, June 5, 2007.

A PM-10 HPA has been issued for Wednesday, June, 6, 2007*

Though the winds haven't yet picked up across the Valley, a brown haze
has begun to filter into the region from the northwest. Phoenixvis.net
<http://phoenixvis.net/somt1/index.html> cameras are a good source to
see this influx of dust. PM-10 monitors have also registered a notable
spike Tuesday morning. It's a strong trough of low pressure over the
western U.S. that is and will continue to be responsible for this dust
event Tuesday through early Thursday. Winds should begin to increase
Tuesday afternoon. Gusts near 40 mph are possible across the desert
locations Wednesday as an associated cold front pushes through. Cooler
air will drop afternoon desert temps into the low to mid 90s Wednesday
and Thursday. Once this system moves out of the area Friday and
Saturday, temperatures will rebound back to the triple digits. Ozone
will be limited the next few days as winds continue to break up
pre-existing ozone and keep the precursors from forming new ozone. Due
to the forecasted high winds and lack of rain, we are issuing a PM-10
High Pollution Advisory for Wednesday, June 6, 2007. This means
everyone should be conscious of their outdoor exertion, especially
active children and adults and people with respiratory disease. Check
back tomorrow to see when conditions will begin to improve. Have a good
day! -J.Paul
