Synopsis and Discussion

A PM-10 HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TUESDAY JUNE 05

An unusually strong but dry upper level long-wave trough will move over
the western U.S. - including Arizona - the next 48 hours or so. It is
forecast to remain nearly stationary into the weekend although weaken
with time even as disturbances propagate thru it. A surface cold front
should arrive over the local forecast area by noon Wednesday; no
rainfall will occur and cloud cover will be limited to the high variety.
It will be cooler on Wednesday, but the biggest impact from the system
will be gusty winds that have the potential to continue unabated from
Tuesday afternoon thru Wednesday evening. The winds may cause areas of
blowing dust by Tuesday evening with widespread blowing and suspended
dust likely on Wednesday. For this reason a PM-10 Health Watch has been
issued for Tuesday with a High Pollution Advisory a good bet for
Wednesday at which time persons with heart or lung disease should limit
outdoor activities. -Reith
