AIR QUALITY FORECAST FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 22, 2007
This report is updated by 1:00 p.m. Sunday thru Friday and is valid
for areas within and bordering Maricopa County in Arizona

Health message for Sunday, Jan 21: Unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

Health message for Monday, Jan 22: No health impacts are expected.

Synopsis and Discussion
An intense upper level low and trough, as well as a surface cold front, are due to arrive from the north today and bring another round of cold and wet conditions to the local forecast area. The upper level component of the system is then forecast to take up a position to the south of Arizona through at least mid-week. The associated winds and cool temperatures aloft will keep stagnation at bay with favorable dispersion in the short term. Recent and forecast additional rainfall will help to stabilize PM-10 sources as well so overall good air quality is expected on Monday—with perhaps a increase in fine particle concentrations by Tuesday. -Reith
