Synopsis and Discussion
*A PM-10 Health Watch remains in effect for Wednesday, February 28, 2007*
High pressure will build over the southwest U.S. beginning early Friday. This high will kick the trough of low pressure responsible for the strong winds Wednesday and Thursday out of the region. Afternoon desert temperature will increase to the mid to upper 70s Saturday through Monday, possibly reaching the low 80s next Tuesday under the influence of this ridge. Winds will also decrease significantly by Friday. However, while the strong trough of low pressure is still with us, we can expect to see winds possibly gust near 30 mph in the Valley Wednesday afternoon and around 20 mph Thursday afternoon. The lack of rain will allow loose soil to be kicked up in some areas, reducing visibility at times. This means that Particulate concentrations will likely climb well into the Moderate range Wednesday and Thursday at most monitors. A PM-10 Health Watch remains in effect for Wednesday, but will not be extended as the trough slowly moves east and winds decrease. Check back tomorrow for a quick glimpse at the weekend weather and air quality. Have a good day. J.Paul
