Synopsis and Discussion
One more wave of energy will dive south into western Arizona this afternoon on the backside of the large trough of low pressure that has dominated the region's weather for the past several days. This wave will produce one more round of showers and possible thunderstorms across the deserts as well as snow of the mountains this evening. Models move this trough to the east of the region Wednesday, allowing of Arizona to dry out a bit Thursday through next weekend. Afternoon desert temperatures will remain in the low to mid 60s the next several days, warming to near 70°F by next Monday. Ventilation drops off considerably Wednesday and Thursday, increasing with another wave passing to the north of the forecast area on Friday, and then dropping off again Saturday through early next week. This means that inversions will be strong with little wind to mix things up. Therefore, we expect Particulate levels (particularly PM2.5) to increase during this period. It's a few days out, but that's the main scenario we're keeping an eye on. Until then, enjoy one more day of rain and check back tomorrow for more. Have a good day! -J.Paul
