Health message for Tuesday, Dec 11: No health impacts are expected.

Synopsis and Discussion
A couple more cloudy days with some on-and-off showers are expected through Tuesday before the system finally joins up with the main jet stream and kicks east. This has been a rather cold system with afternoon desert highs only in the upper 50s to around 60°F. That won't change much as the week progresses because high pressure just isn't going to be able to rebound quick enough or strong enough to cause significant warming before the next system moves in. That will likely be around next Sunday and Monday. Air quality was in the "Good" range of the Air Quality Index again on Sunday. Models are still suggesting that we could have some decent rain on Tuesday, so the trend should continue through at least Wednesday. With the trough of low pressure exiting, mixing heights will plummet and winds will become mostly light Wednesday through Friday. This means that ventilation will not be very good, allowing PM-2.5 concentrations to increase heading into the weekend. We'll have to wait and see just how high they will go. Check back tomorrow for the latest. Have a good day! -J.Paul
