Synopsis and Discussion
AN OZONE HEALTH WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONDAY AUGUST 13
Summertime heat is making a comeback over the local forecast area as strong high pressure aloft over the central U.S. migrates to the west toward Arizona. The hot air mass associated with the high pressure is rather dry and some of this drier air will be brought overhead along with the heat. Strong daytime heating and above average temperatures, along with minimal daytime cloud cover and an advertised deep easterly wind regime, are predicted to contribute to above average local ozone production and accumulation. Thus, an Ozone Health Watch has been issued for Monday as a precaution for those with respiratory problems. Depending on how fast ozone levels rise, a High Pollution Advisory may become necessary for Tuesday.
