Monitoring Tips of the Month - Mid-May 2012
________________________________
________________________________
July 1, 2012 is the deadline for all Community Water Systems to distribute the 2011 Annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) to customers and their primacy agency.
Consumer Confidence Report (CCR)
Y Applies to all Community Water Systems, regardless of size;
Y Must include a table of all detected contaminants (most recent results, if detected, within the last 5 years [2007-2011]);
Y Non-detects can be included if the system chooses;
Y Consecutive systems (purchase water from another system) must list their detected distribution system sampling results, and include the entry point to the distribution system (EPDS) sampling results for detected contaminants sampled by the wholesale system (seller);
Y The wholesaler should have provided this information to the buyer by April 1, 2011; and
Y The CCR Mailing Certification or Waiver is due by October 1, 2012.
ADEQ has posted a revised CCR template on the webpage at this link: http://www.azdeq.gov/function/forms/appswater.html#sdw , then scroll down to:

* The revised template includes updated headings by contaminant group, which should make it easier to understand when filling it out, and for the customer.
* Some columns have two or more headings to address either the variety of contaminants under the group, or the different ways you may report, for example:
* Total coliform is reported as present/absent, but turbidity is not; or
* The system may only have one sample (HIGH), or they may have four quarters which may require them to report the running annual average (RAA); or
* The system may have multiple EPDSs, that can be reported separately, or together if no MCL exists for any of the combined EPDSs
* Be sure to delete those portions of the heading that are not applicable to your system's reporting situation.
* For example, if a system has only one sample then report the HIGH result and delete the part of the heading that says RUNNING ANNUAL AVERAGE (RAA), and vice versa.
News Flash!
On May 24, ADEQ will be hosting a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) Workshop as part of the May ERG at the ADEQ office in Phoenix. This is the third and final CCR workshop of the year...don't miss it!
We urge you to attend this workshop if you need assistance, as we do not have enough staff to assist all systems one-on-one.
We have approximately 800 regulated Community Water Systems that must prepare a CCR, and ADEQ cannot prepare data queries for 800 systems.
Each PWS is required to retain their reporting records according to rule, so if you are preparing the CCR for the PWS, please communicate with the PWS to access their records so you can prepare the CCR.
If you would like to attend the May 24th CCR Workshop, first please register for the ERG Workshop at http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/water/dw/other.html, Select the Phoenix-Operator Certification ERG Workshop then you must also contact Noah Adams to attend the CCR Workshop.
Noah Adams can be reached at 602-771-4511, or nra@azdeq.gov<mailto:nra@azdeq.gov>.
Please note that the Camp Verde ERG on June 19th-20th will host a Disinfection By-Products workshop.
If you have any questions on the CCR workshop, please contact the Drinking Water Monitoring and Protection Unit Manager, Donna Calderon, at 602-771-4641 or dml@azdeq.gov<mailto:dml@azdeq.gov> .
