Pay Range: $64,043.20 to $86,444.80 Annually

ABOUT THE POSITION
A Water Supply Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for management
and direction of the City's water supply system including facilities
such as wells, well treatment facilities, reservoirs, pump stations,
pressure reducing stations, and related facilities and equipment such as
chlorination equipment. The incumbent performs a variety of engineering
related and administrative tasks and is responsible for supervising,
planning and coordinating the activities of maintenance staff involved
in the maintenance, and repair of the City's water supply system. The
incumbent in this class functions as the manager for the activities and
performance metrics related to the water supply section; is responsible
for developing and administering the section operating budget including
any professional services and purchasing contracts; and works with
engineering staff to project short and long term capital replacement
needs. This position reviews engineering plans and specifications
related to new or refurbishment projects for all water supply assets;
initiates changes to installation and standard details; maintains lists
of acceptable manufacturers, products, and materials of construction
based on field performance; and oversees construction of facilities from
the utility operations and maintenance perspective. An employee in this
class participates in the Water Supply Section's long-range and
strategic planning; prepares requests for estimates, requests for bids,
and documentation for maintenance projects; oversees the development,
data entry into, and reports generated from maintenance management
software; schedules regular preventative maintenance through a work
order system; and provides regular management level performance reports
on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. The Water Supply
Maintenance Superintendent works under the direction of the Assistant
Director - Water who reviews results achieved through conferences,
reports, and inspections. This class is distinguished from other
supervisory classes by responsibility for budget preparation, CIP
replacement program preparation, and accountability for performance
metrics. The incumbent is responsible for providing City media
representatives with all pertinent information related to emergency
water problems, issues, and outages associated with water supply
equipment and facilities. The employee in this class must be available
on a 24-hour basis to cover emergency situations. This class is FLSA
exempt-administrative.
ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification(s) Required. Any combination of training,
education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited
college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business
Administration, Business Management, Organizational Management, or
closely related field. Considerable (3 - 5 years) experience in the
administration, planning, operation, and maintenance of water supply
facilities and/or systems. Three years of supervisory or management
experience. Proficiency in Windows-based software, including Word,
Access, and Excel.
Special Requirement(s). Must possess a Grade 3 certification in Water
Distribution and Grade 3 certification in Water Treatment from the
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) by hire date. This
class is responsible for acquiring a minimum of 30 professional
development hours (PDHs) every three (3) years to maintain their ADEQ
Certification. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License by hire
date.
