**Notice to Public Water Systems & Other Stakeholders**

Lead & Copper Rule - Short-Term Revisions

Web Cast Scheduled April 3, 2008

 

On Thursday, April 3rd, ADEQ will host an EPA Web cast entitled, Lead &
Copper Rule: Short Term Revisions and Clarifications. This is an
opportunity for any water system or stakeholder to learn the
fundamentals required about the lead and copper monitoring rule. The
presentation will also focus on October 2007 revisions. (See description
below for more details.)

The Web cast will be presented at ADEQ, 1110 W. Washington Street,
Phoenix AZ 85007, Conference Room 5100B (5th Floor) from 11:00 AM to
1:00 PM. Attendees will receive two (2) PDH credits for participation.

Registration is required to reserve your seat and receive handout
materials for the Web cast. To register for the Web cast, host the

Topics to be covered:

*         The Web cast will provide an overview of the current Lead and
Copper Rule (LCR), which will include a discussion of the basic
requirements of the rule, lead and copper tap monitoring requirements,
and 90th percentile calculations. It is intended for state drinking
water staff, public water system owners & operators, and other
stakeholders interested in complying with the rule.

*         The focus of the presentation will be the new requirements
under the October 2007 LCR Short-Term Revisions. Discussion of the
regulatory changes will cover four main areas:

*         Monitoring changes;

*         Requirements to inform the public including public education;

*         Advanced notification of long-term treatment changes and
source additions; and,

*         Re-evaluation of lead service lines with sample levels below
0.015 mg/L.

*         Speakers include Dr. Francine St. Denis (EPA OGWDW Protection
Branch) who is responsible for implementation issues related to the LCR
Rule. Ms. Anne Jaffe Murray, a Senior Associate with the Cadmus Group
(which has supported EPA's efforts to promulgate and implement the
January 2000 LCR), will also present.
