EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNING (EMP) AZWARN 2008
DRINKING WATER WORKSHOPS


Workshop space will be limited; please register early. 

TRAINING OBJECTIVE:


The Drinking Water Section will conduct one and one-half day, twelve
(12) hour workshops on emergency management planning for facility owners
and operators of drinking water and wastewater systems and for public
and industrial and critical infrastructure entities in Arizona
communities. The workshops will provide updates on protocols and
procedures for all Federal, State, Tribal and Local responders to
coordinate emergency response statewide. 

Part of each workshop will include attendee participation in a table-top
exercise simulating a possible incident at a public water facility. 

This training earns the attendee twelve (12) professional development
hours. The Arizona Operator Certification Program requires professional
development hours for certificate renewal. 

There is no cost for this training. Lodging, meals and transportation
are the attendee's responsibility.

Description: This course is brought to you by the Texas Engineering
Extension Service, Texas A&M University. This course trains public works
managers and supervisors in their critical infrastructure and public
services responsibilities and roles as they relate to a community's
preparation and response to a WMD incident.  After completing the
course, participants will be able to successfully conduct vulnerability
assessments of the jurisdiction's critical infrastructure and facilities
and effectively contribute to the management of a WMD/terrorism incident
as a member of the jurisdiction's Unified Command structure.  The course
delivery methodology consists of lectures, group discussions,
participant's activities, case studies, and scenario-driven exercises.
The participants conclude the course with an activity designed to
improve and enhance the public works emergency response plan.

This program is not just for Public Works personnel.  Others will be
afforded a unique opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and
attitudes necessary to help them protect public safety and
infrastructure from the threat of a terrorism incident.  Course
participants, using their extensive professional experience, work
together in multi-discipline teams to apply the information presented
during the course in a variety of hands-on, small-group activities as
well as realistic, multi-media scenarios

Prerequisites: IS-700: NIMS: An Introduction (www.training.fema.gov
<http://training.fema.gov/> ).

Target Audience: Participants should hold a managerial or supervisory
position within the public works discipline/service, OR be Fire, EMS,
Hazmat, Law enforcement, Public Health, or Emergency Management,
Government Administrative personnel.

Registration: Participants must enroll no later than 13 April in order
to ensure a firm head-count.  Registration may occur after this
deadline, but there may be no guarantee of enrollment.
