[Dwopcert] Davidson Valve briefing and installation

Ladies and Gentlemen:
At some point over the last few months I have contacted you or your
office about the vulnerability to the water distribution system via fire
hydrants.
In order to mitigate the vulnerability I introduced a new devise called
the Davidson Valve. It is a one way check valve that can be fitted into
just about all makes and models of fire hydrant. The valve provides
continuous protection and keeps contaminates from being introduced to
the water distribution system intentionally or accidentally via the fire
hydrant.
The Cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale have purchased some Davidson Valves
and we will be assisting in the installation the third week in April and
we wanted to invite you and your staff to attend the briefing and
installations.
Below are the details of the classes and installations.
Please RSVP if you are interested in sending someone in order to keep
the cities informed on participation. Proper identification will be
required for admittance.
PLEASE FORWARD TO OTHERS WHO MAY BE AVAILABLE TO ATTEND!
There are two different days to choose from.
DAY 1 - PHOENIX
WHEN:
Wednesday, April 23, 2008
8:00 AM completed installing by 1:30 or 2:00 pm.
CALL 202.957.8012 to determine location of install demos.
WHERE:
TBD
DAY 2 - SCOTTSDALE
WHEN:
Thursday, April 24, 2008
9:30 AM completed installing by 1:30 or 2:00 pm.
CALL 202.957.8012 to determine location of install demos.
WHERE:
Water Operations Supervisor
9312 N. 94th Street
Scottsdale, AZ 85258
Ph. 480.312.5658
WHO:
The water utility is taking the lead on informing those who need to know
and those who should know about his vulnerability. Representatives from
fire department, police department, the city manager's office or the
city council should be in attendance.
WHAT:
A 1 hour class on the threat, vulnerability and mitigating solution will
be held before demonstrating how to install the Davidson Valves in
working city hydrants. THESE WILL BE THE FIRST VALVES IN THE STATE OF
ARIZONA.
WHY:
Although the water utility takes the lead on the mitigation a layered
approach to security is required. The Bioterrorism Preparedness and
Response Act of 2002 requiring a vulnerability assessment also required
the plans to include methods, means and equipment to negate or mitigate
those vulnerabilities. This includes FIRE HYDRANTS.
The fire hydrant is the most visible, vulnerable and accessible place in
a water distribution system. The ease of access needs to be understood
because the LEGAL LIABILITY of something happen will affect all
associated in the industry. We receive new information regularly on
threats from government agencies regarding contamination. It IS EYE
OPENING and it will be shared.
I will be sending reminders as the date approaches we hope to see you
there.
