City of Mesa - WATER RECLAMATION OPERATOR II - $46,092.80-62212.80
Annually
A Water Reclamation Operator II is responsible for managing the complex
daily operations and maintenance of all City of Mesa's water reclamation
facilities with oversight by the Water Reclamation Plant Supervisor.
Employees at this level receive occasional supervision, instruction, and
assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and must be capable of
independent, well-informed, technically correct decisions.
Duties include: Analyze trends and data; monitor equipment and
processes
through all available means to include gauges, meters and Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) inputs; document and review ongoing
water reclamation plant process operations and maintenance issues;
optimize
processes; economic utilization of materials and equipment; collection
and
analysis of process samples using rigorous laboratory procedures;
demonstration of thorough and complete documentation; and systematic
review
of all process procedures and anomalies. Computer data entry and
organization of information is essential. Operators in this class
frequently participate in training activities both as a student and a
teacher. Assist in the formulation and implementation of procedural
objectives and programs. Incumbents are responsible for operating the
plant alone on an assigned shift, weekends, or holidays. This class
works
under the supervision of a Water Reclamation Supervisor through work in
progress, results achieved, reports, meetings, and conferences. This
class
is subject to random drug and alcohol testing to comply with Department
of
Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
regulations 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 382 (by
assignment).
This class is FLSA nonexempt.
Minimum Qualification(s) Required. Any combination of training,
education,
and experience equivalent to two years of full-time employment in
wastewater treatment, OR graduation from an accredited college or
university with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry,
or
a related field. Six months full-time employment in wastewater
treatment.
Possession of a Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate
from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) by hire
date.
Special Requirement(s). Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain
a
Grade 3 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate from ADEQ within
one year of hire date. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License by
hire date. Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's
License (CDL) Instructional Permit by hire date (by assignment). The
skills demonstration portion of the CDL test must be completed within
120
days of hire date and will be administered by a City of Mesa Third Party
Tester (by assignment). Must meet the physical standards and
requirements
for the wearing of a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
respiratory
protection equipment. Must meet the qualifications to wear a tight
fitting
respirator by passing a medical evaluation in accordance with CFR
1910.134
by hire or promotion date and must maintain certification. Must obtain
40-hour hazardous materials certification within one year of hire date.
