ADEQ will be presenting an EPA video Web cast on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in 5100B. This is a video (not a powerpoint) presentation. Please pass this information on to other staff (and outside sources) that may be interested to attend.

Registration is required. Please e-mail Suzanne Price (sop@azdeq.gov) to reserve a space and receive any handout materials.

The intended audience for this Web cast is staff in the water and waste progams working on assessment or cleanup projects in watersheds contaminated by hazardous substances.

EPA will present "Using EPA's manual "Integrating Water and Waste Programs to Restore Watersheds to streamline assessment and cleanup". This will be an integrated approach to manage our watersheds. Instructors will provide an oveview of the document, the driving forces behind its development, key features and show users how best to use the information provided. A case study will highlight how this integrated approach was used to save money and restore a contaminated water shed.

Instructors for the presentation includel Kathryn Hernandez, Waste/Water program coordinator applying a cross-programmatic approach to assessment and cleanup of impaired watersheds. She has worked in the wetlands program, in the EPA field office and is a TMDL specialist and a Remedial Project Manager.

The other instructor is Charlie MacPherson, Public Outreach Specialist for Tetra Tech, Inc. She works to integrate various EPA environmental programs within a watershed context. She recently worked with EPA to produce the draft Handbook to Restore and Protect Our Waters. Charlie has developed numerous guidebooks, conducted trainings, and facilitated workgroups to assist organizations to effectively change behaviors to improve the environment.
