ADEQ has approved the remedial investigation (RI) work plan submitted by ChemResearch pursuant to a working agreement with ADEQ to implement the RI at the ChemResearch Facility, located within the West Van Buren Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Central Phoenix.1

Information

An RI is conducted to document the nature and extent of the contamination and the sources thereof; identify current and potential impacts to public health, welfare, and the environment; identify current and reasonably foreseeable uses of land and waters of the state; and obtain and evaluate any other information necessary for identification and comparison of alternative remedial actions. The nature and extent of the contamination at the ChemResearch Facility located within the West Van Buren WQARF site is currently unknown. Contaminants of concern at the site are tetrachloroethene, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead, and nickel.
