Primary Drinking Water Regulations – Lead and Copper Rule Revisions

Summary:

ADEQ proposes amending the drinking water rules regulating lead and copper in Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) Title 18, Chapter 4, Article 1 to provide better protection of human health, maintain Arizona primary enforcement responsibility (primacy) for the federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, and promote radical simplicity for our customers. This rulemaking will reduce lead and copper levels at consumers’ taps as required by federal regulations. These updates are required by federal law and therefore will not increase regulatory burden beyond what is required by the Safe Drinking Water Act.
