Facility Information

56th Street and Earll Drive Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Site Groundwater Treatment System
North side of Salt River Project Grand Canal (SRP) on canal bank, near 34th Street, east of North 32nd Street and north of State Route Loop 202 in Phoenix, AZ 85008

NXP USA, Inc. applied for a renewal AZPDES permit to discharge treated groundwater from the 56th Street and Earll Drive Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Site Groundwater Treatment System to the SRP Grand Canal, a Phoenix Area Canal, to all municipal water treatment plant (WTP), in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 1 N, Range 3 E, Section 1, Maricopa County, Arizona. The treatment system includes two extraction wells and an underground pipeline system which conveys groundwater contaminated with trichloroethylene (TCE) to an above-ground groundwater treatment plant. The extraction well water is conveyed through particulate filters for screening and sediment removal and then combined in a pipeline and conveyed for treatment of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). In-stream monitoring with limitations for boron within a mixing zone, located 1,400 feet downstream of the discharge point, is also required.
