Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Renewal Permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Salt River, Between Interstate 10 crossing and 19th Avenue, Phoenix, Ariz.
City of Phoenix – Parks and Recreation Department applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to approximately 3.62 million gallons per day (mgd) of groundwater from five supply wells to provide a river ecosystem to achieve a sustainable balance of flora and fauna at the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. This facility consists of a 595-acre park located along a 5-mile section of the Salt River south of downtown Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Ariz. The receiving water is the Salt River, from the Interstate 10 Bridge to the 23rd Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant, in the Middle Gila River Basin. The points of discharge are in Township 1 N, Range 3 E, Sections 17, 19, 20 and 22.
