PROPOSED ARIZONA POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (AZPDES) RENEWAL PERMIT

Notice Read the Following: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R18-9-A907, the Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Resolution Copper Mining, LLC (Superior Operations)

Superior, AZ 85723

Facility Location: Resolution Copper Mining, LLC applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for discharge of mine site stormwater from Outfall 00 I and treated mine drainage water from Outfall 002 from the Resolution Copper Mining, LLC - Superior mine. The discharge for both Outfall 001 and 002 is to an unnamed wash, tributary to Queen Creek (Headwaters to Town of Superior Wastewater Treatment Plant outfall) in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 2 S, Range 12 E, Section 4, in Pinal County, Arizona.

A Public Hearing will be held at the Superior Junior/Senior High School, 100 W. Mary Drive, Superior, AZ 85173, on July 12, 2016, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The purpose of the public hearing is to allow the public to make comments for the record. ADEQ will respond in writing to all comments submitted during the formal public comment period.
