 WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT: MUNICIPAL/DOMESTIC WASTEWATER

Municipal or domestic wastewater is the sewage generated from residences, institutions, commercial or industrial establishments. The wastewater flows in sewer collection lines to a sewage treatment plant, where it is treated prior to discharge. The discharge of the treated wastewater requires an Aquifer Protection Permit (APP), and may also be regulated under an Arizona Pollution Elimination System (AZPDES) permit and/or a reclaimed water permit.
