Water Quality Division: Permits: Fees

In 2010, ADEQ was granted authority to revise fees for the Aquifer Protection Permits (APP) and direct use of Reclaimed Water Permits Programs and establish fees for the Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permits Program. Fee rules for ADEQ's water quality permitting services were approved on April 05, 2011 and became effective July 01, 2011.

A copy of the rules are available from the Arizona Secretary of State Leaving ADEQ Web site. ADEQ has also prepared Frequently Asked Questions about the fee rules. Fees may be paid by check or money order made payable to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or ADEQ.

Pursuant to A.A.C. R18-14-113, ADEQ published an accounting of the revenue and expenditure activity for the prior fiscal year FY2012.

A $2,000 initial fee is required at the time an application is submitted to the Department for review of any water quality protection service subject to an hourly fee. For APP Compliance Schedule Item (CSI) review, the Department has established Alternative Initial Fees for Compliance Schedule Items that are not Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) Amendments, which are significantly less than $2,000.00 (A.A.C. R18-14-103).
