Waste Programs Divison: Compliance

The Waste Programs Division provides assistance to facilities to help them achieve and maintain compliance with environmental regulations. Several sections within the Waste Programs Division inspect facilities on a regular basis and in response to citizen complaints to ensure compliance with environmental laws, as well as offer assistance to facilities in resolving any identified compliance issues.

For The Public:

  • Home Medical Sharps Disposal - The handling and disposal of used home generated medical sharps such as needles, syringes, and lancets, are exempted from regulation in Arizona's Medical Waste Regulations (Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R18-13-1401 et seq.).
  • Prescription Drug Disposal - The federal government has released guidelines which are designed to reduce the diversion of prescription drugs into surface waters, soils, and the groundwater to protect the environment.
