ADEQ Border Programs: Arizona/Sonora Region

During development of the Border 2012 framework, border residents identified many regional issues of concern. In the Arizona/Sonora region, these issues include:

• Air quality problems stemming from dusty roads, vehicle emissions and wood burning
• Water issues, such as a lack of reservoirs and wastewater treatment infrastructure and water contamination from smelters
• Land pollution problems associated with used tires and inadequate waste disposal
