Forecast Discussion:
Once again, ozone levels ended up in the Moderate AQI category, while PM10 and PM2.5 stayed in the Good range yesterday. Looking ahead, we still don't expect a whole lot of change for most of the forecast period. Ozone levels are forecast to stay in the Moderate range. However, we do expect higher concentrations on Saturday and Sunday due to westerly winds bringing influence from California. Stronger winds on Monday and then a shift to northerly winds on Tuesday should bring ozone levels back down into the lower Moderates.
As for particulates, most days are forecast to stay in the Good AQI range. The primary day to monitor will be Monday due to strong winds from a passing trough. We are forecasting wind gusts up around 35-40 mph, which will likely be enough to kick up dust. As a result, we are forecasting PM10 and PM2.5 to reach the Moderate AQI category on Monday with quite high hourly concentrations during the afternoon.
